I’m Catholic because I believe Him.
Not in theory.
Not metaphorically.
But bodily—as in, Body and Blood.
Where else is Christ truly present?
Where else does heaven kiss earth daily on altars across the world?
Where else does the Savior say, “This is my Body… This is my Blood… Do this in remembrance of Me”—and we do it?
He didn’t suggest it.
He commanded it.
Do this.
As manna fell from the sky for Israel, so too the Bread of Life descended from heaven. But this time, it wasn’t food for the body alone—it was salvation for the soul.
Christ’s agony was no metaphor. His pain was flesh. Our sin, nailed. Our shame, pierced.
And for the doubters—He gave signs:
Wine from water.
A spear to His side—blood and water pouring out as if to say, There is nothing more to give. I have given you all.
And still, He gives.
He handed the chalice to His friends and said, Drink.
This is My Blood.
Whoever believes in Me will never thirst. Whoever eats My flesh will live forever, and I will raise them on the last day.
So I eat.
I drink.
I weep.
Because He called me to believe.
At Communion, I am not pretending.
I am not performing.
I am not even worthy.
But I am one with God.
No other faith dares to claim what we Catholics daily receive:
God in flesh.
Heaven on the tongue.
Eternity in a Host.
Aside for the critics:
To those who attack the priesthood, mock the statues, or dismiss the Rosary—you’ve missed the point entirely.
You’re playing Monday-morning quarterback on a game you never stepped into. You’ve fixated on the frame and ignored the masterpiece.
You’ve distracted yourself with what you think you know—while Christ stands in front of you, whispering, This is My Body. And you don’t even look up.
The scandal of Catholicism is not the rituals.
It’s not the incense, or Latin, or hierarchy.
The scandal is that we believe—no, we know—that God made Himself edible.
Because He is here.
And I can taste Him.
This is why I’m Catholic.
Praise God for raising eyebrows and souls.
